Thanksgiving Day Meal Distribution to Seniors

Members of the Rotary Club of Eastwick – Philadelphia International Airport gathered on Thanksgiving morning to package and distribute almost 200 hot meals to Southwest Philadelphia seniors and people with disabilities who had no family or friends to share their holiday with.  Thanks goes to Summerwood LLP who donated their time and all of the food to the cause, family and friends of the Rotarians, members of the Rotary Club of Philadelphia, members of the Wayne Presbyterian Church, and Health Annex staff.

Remembering Good Friends

We mourn the recent loss of Frank Deisher and Herb Pincus, Rotarians and friends for 20 years.  Frank was a real estate broker and served as club secretary for many years.  Herb worked in the soft soft drink field.  Both were  distinguished gentlemen.  They are greatly missed.

Mural Project

In October 2005, we contracted with a local mural artist to paint a scene that reflected the diversity of the people of Southwest Philadelphia.  Club members and neighborhood youth assisted the artist in preparing the wall and painting the mural.

Group Study Exchange from Mexico

In 2006, we hosted one Rotarian and 3 young professionals as part of a Group Study Exchange with District 4160 in Mexico.   For one week, we took them sightseeing in Center City Philadelphia, for a boat ride in Baltimore Harbor and in Chesapeake Bay, and to a Phillies baseball game.

Annual Thanksgiving Day Meal Distribution to Seniors

Every Thanksgiving Day since 1996, we prepared and packaged over 125 hot meals.  All meals are delivered to seniors living in the low-income neighborhoods of West and Southwest Philadelphia.

We have been generously supported and assisted by Summerwood Corporation.
